FOREWORD

At the time Belinda left us, she was close to realising her dream of completing this solo album. It was a personal labour of love which she was intensely committed to.

Belinda's first love was music. Before she ever began acting, her first forays into public life were as the singer in two bands in high school. Throughout her life, Belinda surrounded herself with music, she created music, and above all, she loved to perform music.

It didn't matter whether she was laying down vocal tracks in a professio studio or just letting rip at a karaoke party with friends, Belle was at her happiest behind a microphone.

The sounds on So I am are just a small number of the many tracks that Belle wrote. The album started back in 2000 and Belinda was still in the studio putting her finishing touches on things right up until October last year.

For all of us involved with this project, there is an amazing sense of pride to have played a part in finally delivering So I Am. There is also a great sense of sadness that Belinda never got to hear her songs in such a wonderful completed state.

This sadness is lessened by the knowledge that Belinda's heart & soul resonates throughout her album. Belinda's family and collaborators are sharing these songs now, in the certain knowledge that it will bring a smile to Belinda's face to know that her music is finally being heard.

And what a beautiful smile it was.
